In this case dated 20 March 2016 in Peyruis (04), a witness was in bed when a bright light illuminated his bedroom, followed by a loud noise. He later found burnt grass in a neighbour's field. No other account was collected. The observation was extremely brief, 1 second, and consisted solely of light and sound perceived from bed. He did not go outside and could not describe an unidentified aerospace phenomenon, UAP, with a shape or position. The light could have many origins, such as a thunderstorm, searchlight or meteorite entering the atmosphere. He found a round ground mark the next day. GEIPAN sees no particular reason to investigate it as related to a UAP without a UAP having been observed. Circular marks can have many causes, such as fairy-ring fungi, a former inflatable pool or motorcycle skidding. Marks of varying age, not immediately beside the house, could have escaped his attention until he looked for traces. GEIPAN classifies the case C: insufficient observation data.
