On 19 April 2016 at 03:56, a witness looking through a window saw a faint light cross a clear sky southeast to northwest. Passing overhead, it appeared as a white-orange ball with an orange halo around its edge. It was silent and left no trail. The witness lost sight of it after 5 seconds. No other account was collected. The description is very precise, especially the drawing reconstructing the path within the window. That drawing was posted online rather than supplied directly to GEIPAN. Color, shape and movement consistent with the local east wind all fit a sky lantern (see the investigation report). GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable sky lantern.
