On 3 July 2016 at about 01:00, a witness in a car park saw several very bright irregularly oval red, yellow and orange lights appear successively and move silently through a clear, starry sky. They seemed to approach, frightening the witness, before the landscape hid them. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN considers sky lanterns probable, unrecognized because the witness lacked experience of them. Evidential support is weak, with little usable information, especially about movement, paths and final directions. Nevertheless, photograph and video analysis supports the hypothesis (see the investigation report). The case is classified B: probable observation of 3 sky lanterns drifting with the wind after release for a local celebration.
