PLOUHA (22) 22.08.2016

On the afternoon of 22 August 2016, a technician working outdoors in Plouha (22) saw a dark elongated object to the north, intermittently reflecting sunlight. It resembled a paraglider canopy, but nothing appeared to hang beneath it. He watched its movements, photographed it and followed it by car. It drifted slowly northeast while making small rotations, then was lost from view. No other account was reported. The photograph supplied to the investigator does not show the object, which was too distant, but confirms the time as 15:28. GEIPAN finds the sighting only slightly unusual and the witness reliable; he reported it to understand what he had seen. The investigation, including information from its president, identifies very probably a paraglider from the PLOUEZAILES club. Evidential consistency was scored 0.7 and strangeness 0.25. The case is classified A: probable paraglider in flight.
