On Friday 26 August 2016 at 04:54, a witness on his terrace in Ham (80) saw 3 luminous discs emitting opaque white light move north to south in a triangle against a clear sky. It lasted 4–5 seconds without sound. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN finds appearance and colour fully consistent with released lanterns, with southward travel matching the wind; see Infoclimat. An August night is favourable to celebrations. The gendarmerie investigation also reported a similar light phenomenon on the night of 27–28 August at 01:30.
