[D137] de RIOM (63) vers PERIGNAT-LES-SARLIEVE (63) 25.11.2016

On 25 November 2016 at 18:03, a driver on the D137 from Riom toward Pérignat-lès-Sarliève (63) saw a red light moving silently and initially thought it was a motor vehicle climbing a slope. It then rose above the Gergovie plateau and disappeared. No other account was collected. GEIPAN favors a sky lantern. Its path matches variable winds recorded by Infoclimat at Aulnat, directed westward at 18:00 and capable of carrying a lantern upward toward the plateau. A weekend evening after dark favors such recreational or festive releases; the witness described other lights at nightfall.
