CROZON (29) 27.12.2016
CROZON (29), Bretagne, France
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On 27 December 2016, a witness in Crozon (29), T1, left the television to see what his son was doing upstairs. At the top of the stairs he noticed through a window a light moving “quite quickly,” apparently towards Crozon. He called his son, who also saw it, then fetched his camera from downstairs and photographed it through the glass. Between 23:44 on 27 December and 00:59 on 28 December he took 19 photographs. Only 1 account was collected.
GEIPAN finds a strong inconsistency between the reported high speed and an observation lasting more than 1 hour. The witnesses went to bed while the light was still present, which it interprets as indicating low strangeness.
T1 placed it west-southwest. The source states that Sirius was clearly visible in that direction, apparently moving west towards Crozon. GEIPAN attributes the Z-shaped movement in photograph 3 to photography through window glass with a powerful zoom, and the various colours to Sirius's scintillation.
GEIPAN concludes that T1 probably photographed Sirius. The case is classified B: probable observation of Sirius.
