[CD39] de FOUCHY (67) vers URBEIS (67) 19.11.2017 T1

On 19 November 2017 at 20:35, 2 people in a car, T1 the driver and T2 the front passenger, were intrigued by colored luminous shapes seen through the windshield. They were on departmental road 39 leaving Fouchy (67) toward Urbeis (67). They disagreed about the phenomenon's appearance but agreed that it was silent and stationary. Each took photographs with a smartphone. Their UAP descriptions were very different, with T2 explicitly noting a different perception from T1 (see the investigation notes). The photographs also show T2's UAP sharply and T1's blurred. This suggested 2 distinct observations of 2 UAPs, so 2 separate cases were opened. An examination of the dashboard of their Dacia Sandéro revealed the source of T1's UAP. A transparent overlay of the witnesses' photograph and a dashboard photograph shows a windshield reflection of the Media Nav screen. A wire or cable in front of the screen accounts for the appearance of 2 triangles. The red point is the hazard-warning button, and the orange point is the door-lock button. This also explains the silence and apparent immobility. GEIPAN concludes that T1 saw a dashboard reflection in a glazed part of the vehicle and classifies this case A: reflection.
