[CD39] de FOUCHY (67) vers URBEIS (67) 19.11.2017 T2

On 19 November 2017 at 20:35, 2 people in a car—T1, the woman driving, and T2, the front-seat passenger—were intrigued by colored luminous shapes seen through the windscreen. They were on departmental road 39 leaving Fouchy (67) toward Urbeis (67). Their descriptions differed, but both said the phenomenon was silent and stationary. Each took photographs with a smartphone. The witnesses described the UAP very differently; T2 specifically explained how his perception differed from T1's (see investigation notes). Their photographs also show a sharp UAP for passenger T2 and a blurred one for driver T1. This raised the possibility that they had seen 2 different UAPs, and 2 separate cases were opened. T2 described 4 points of light arranged in a cross, with one flashing in the middle. This fits an aircraft, which he compared to a drone with white LEDs at its extremities. From a distance and through car windows, navigation-light colors may not be distinguishable. The photograph shows the paired lights of a Boeing 717 then approaching Strasbourg to land. Converging paths can create an impression of little or no movement. Both accounts have good evidential support regarding each witness's own observation. Fully usable photographs exist for both UAPs, together with an aircraft track for T2's UAP. GEIPAN concludes that T2 saw an airliner and classifies this case A: airliner.
