On 21 January 2018 at 11:55, a passenger in a moving car took 2 photographs in succession. A round brown object appeared in the sky in the first but not the second. Only 1 account was collected. The account most likely indicates that the witness saw the UAP only through the camera. Asked whether anyone else saw it and how many, the witness replied, “Only me, through my camera lens.” GEIPAN's experience suggests a photographic artifact, probably a nearby insect or bird missed by the eye but captured digitally even at a 1/400-second exposure. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable misinterpretation of a photograph or video. The source explains that, for several years, GEIPAN had ceased processing accounts without an unusual phenomenon also seen directly, unaided by optical instruments.
