LOYETTES (01) 02.08.2019

Late in the afternoon of 2 August 2019, a witness and 3 others were beside a pool in Loyettes (01). He saw 3 objects crossing the clear sky silently. Each was rather gray, with a round center and something resembling wings on either side. They appeared identical in shape and size, traveling at equal spacing along a straight path. After 6–7 seconds they separated in different directions and were lost from view. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN rates strangeness and evidential consistency as moderate: several witnesses were present, but there was only 1 account, a short observation and no photograph. Drones or birds were considered, with birds favored because the round gray bodies, wings and silence fit better. The presence of birds on that path at that time could not be verified. However, the investigation could not explain why the witness failed to recognize birds in daylight under clear skies and therefore could not retain that hypothesis as an explanation. GEIPAN classifies the case C: insufficient reliable information.
