[D902] DE LAUNAGUET (31) VERS COLOMIERS (31) 08.10.2019

Early on 8 October 2019, a motorist on the D902 from Launaguet (31) towards Colomiers (31) saw a white light brighter than Venus. He immediately thought of a large piece of debris falling from orbit. GEIPAN finds the description consistent with at least 50 reports of a fireball on 8 October at 05:20 UTC, or 07:20 French local time. This atmospheric entry of a meteoroid, a small rocky body, was visible in Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine and recorded by the International Meteor Organization (IMO).
