Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On 15 November 2019 at about midnight, during a snowstorm in Renage (38), a witness saw and filmed several pink flashes from home. Only 1 account was collected. The sighting seemed unusual primarily after he slowed the video down: he said the light then clearly appeared to move left to right during the flashes, suggesting an extremely fast object.
GEIPAN considers the evidential basis good, with a video showing the phenomenon twice; see the investigation report. An ENEDIS technician experienced in field work, considering the weather conditions, suggested that the flashes probably came from an electrical installation or power line during an attempt to restore the electricity network to service. However, the location and nature of any repairs were unknown, preventing formal confirmation. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable flashes from electrical equipment and/or a power line.
