BELFORT (90) 21.01.2020

On 21 January 2020 at about 16:45–17:00, a witness looking through a window in Belfort (90) saw a dark object with 4 horizontal colored bands much farther below it: red, green, blue and possibly yellow, the fourth uncertain. He took a photograph while the object continued rotating around a vertical axis until nightfall. GEIPAN considers the evidential basis good, with a photograph and a very detailed account; see the investigation report. While seeking an explanation, the witness identified a kite fitted with a GoPro camera in Belfort's Pépinière neighborhood. GEIPAN classifies the case A: observation of a kite.
