LAON (02) 20.05.2021

During the night of 19–20 May 2021, a Laon (02) resident watched a light flash for a few minutes and tried to film what was clearer to the naked eye. A few seconds after recording began, something bright appeared below a small glow. It approached along a nonlinear path, changing direction rapidly and jerkily, paused briefly, then shot left so quickly that the witness could not follow it with the phone. The video was sent to GEIPAN. Only 1 account was collected. The case has moderate strangeness and good evidential support, with a single witness and video. It is probably a bird or nocturnal insect (see the investigation report). The UAP is blurred while the background is relatively sharp, indicating that it was very close to the witness. Its characteristics and changes of direction fit a bird or nocturnal insect briefly illuminated by a streetlamp. The case is classified B: probable bird or insect.
