Around 04:00 on 17 September 2021, a witness beside a Loire beach at Bou (45) saw a stationary luminous sphere apparently grow in the sky. He described 2 golden lunar crescents back to back, with dimmer outlines defining a sphere, resembling an eclipse, rather than a simple ball. It then seemed to shrink into a plain golden sphere and, according to the summary, disappear. At maximum its estimated apparent diameter was 3–4 times the Sun's, without a noticeable increase in ambient illumination. Despite repeated requests for additional details through the technical questionnaire, the witness did not respond. Essential missing data prevented deeper analysis; see the investigation report.
