[TRAIN] DE PARIS (75) VERS POITIERS (86) 15.02.2022

On February 15, 2022, at 7:30 a.m., a woman aboard TGV INOUI 8483 from Paris to Poitiers saw a very bright white point. She considered several ordinary explanations but felt none matched its movement. Only her account was collected, supported by photographs and a short usable video, giving the case adequate evidential consistency in GEIPAN's terminology. The appearance in the images and her drawing matched Venus in shape, colour, brightness and point-like form. A Stellarium reconstruction placed Venus at azimuth 141 degrees, matching the video. She reported only one bright point; GEIPAN argued that a separate object in addition to the visible planet would have produced two. Her main concern was its apparent speed and movement. The train's changing direction and the passing landscape and clouds, at train speeds up to 300 km/h, could create an impression that the distant light moved with her. GEIPAN classified the case A: Venus.
