THOUROTTE (60) 19.03.2022

On 19 March 2022 at 15:50, 2 witnesses saw a white ball moving very rapidly across the sky. They reported that it stopped above them twice for a few seconds, then resumed at high speed. No sound was heard. Despite GEIPAN's reminders, no questionnaire was returned; only a gendarmerie report describes the event. Its northeast-to-southwest movement followed the wind, and the 2 brief stops suggested a windborne object. However, too little information was available to investigate that hypothesis further; see the investigation report. The gendarmerie account lacks starting and ending elevations, a precise trajectory, apparent-size estimates and brightness information. Apparently only 1 witness was interviewed, briefly by telephone, producing just a few descriptive lines. The investigator's follow-up calls on 5 July and 27 September 2022 obtained no response to requests for additional details. GEIPAN classifies the case C: insufficient information.
