On 1 May 2022 from 05:30 onward, 2 Balan (01) residents traveling by car watched distant points of light throughout their journey. Larger points were above and smaller ones followed below. They seemed stationary and did not flash. On arrival in Balan at about 06:05, the reporting witness took photographs. The viewing direction was east at roughly 30°–45° elevation. Two or 3 further photographs around 06:20 show only 2 points remaining. They seemed differently arranged, although their relative positions were unchanged, and appeared to move southward. Increasing daylight made them harder to see. GEIPAN judges the evidential strength good: a single fairly complete account with 6 photographs; see the investigation report. It identifies the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus. The description, relative positions of the 2 points and azimuth match Jupiter and Venus between 05:30 and 06:20 that day. The planets were in conjunction and particularly bright. The case is classified as A: observation of Venus and Jupiter in conjunction.
