CARRY-LE-ROUET (13) 21.08.2022

On the afternoon of 21 August 2022, a witness was with his family on the beach at Carry-le-Rouet, operating a recreational drone equipped with a camera. Only afterward did he notice a rapidly moving object in the video recorded at 16:07. Using IPACO, photo authentication and analysis software specifically adapted to GEIPAN's needs, the investigation identified the object as a clump of dandelion seeds carried by the wind; details appear in the investigation report. The conclusion rests on its clump-like shape, white color, straight movement with the wind from the northwest, and a date consistent with the seeds' dispersal season. GEIPAN suggests that the seeds probably came from one of the heavily vegetated hills visible in the video's background. The case is classified A: a clump of dandelion seeds.
