Around noon on 3 March 2024, a witness at home in Plabennec (29) looked through a closed roof window and saw a blue-green circular object reflecting sunlight. It travelled steadily west to east in a straight line without a noticeable change of speed or direction, and receded from sight after 30–60 seconds. The summary describes it as spherical.
GEIPAN assessed the evidential strength as moderate: a single witness and no photograph or video. It defines evidential strength as the quantity of reliable, objectively supported information collected for an account. The investigation found a windborne Mylar novelty balloon very probable, based on its typical round shape, reflective blue-green colour and steady straight movement with the wind; see the report. GEIPAN classified the case A: Mylar balloon.
