On the evening of 17 May 2025, a resident of Tournefeuille (31), designated T1, was at home when he saw an intermittent point of light through a south-facing window. It resembled an airliner at altitude, but its motion seemed unlike a conventional flight. It initially moved straight, then abruptly deviated several times to the right before resuming a straight path. Its brightness remained stable despite irregular flashing.
When the object temporarily passed behind the roof, T1 moved to a north-facing window and continued watching until it was no longer visible, probably because it had moved farther away. Another person present also saw it but did not provide a separate account.
GEIPAN rates both the strangeness and evidential support as moderate: there were 2 observers but only one account, and no photograph of the UAP. It considers the observation probably attributable to a satellite (see the investigation report). Under GEIPAN's criteria, evidential support is the amount of information considered reliable and objectively established that has been collected for an account.
The description of a point of light moving in a straight line is consistent with a satellite. GEIPAN suggests that the reported irregular movements could be a perceptual illusion caused by unconscious eye movements, termed the autokinetic effect or autostasis and described on the Méprises du ciel website.
At least 2 satellites followed compatible trajectories during T1's reported time window, with passage durations matching the observation. Without a precise observation time, GEIPAN cannot determine which satellite the witness or witnesses may have seen. It classifies the case B: probable observation of a satellite.
