Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
The only witness to this observation is in the garden of his home in the commune of Haie-Fouassière (44) when he observed between midnight and 02:00 on 17 July 2025 many white light points moving from southwest to east. The witness also notes particularities when he observed: paths affected by rapid and random direction changes, speed variations, flashes of light and overlapping trajectories. Only 1 account was collected.
Although the witness was able to make a video of the UAP, analysis found it unusable because the UAP was not visible. This, together with the witness being the only known observer, limits the case to medium evidential quality*.
*According to the GEIPAN criteria, evidential quality is the amount of information collected for an account that is considered reliable and objectively established.
The analysis (see investigation report) focused on multiple satellite observations for the following reasons:
- Point shape, white colour and low brightness completely consistent with the appearance of such satellites.
- A lot of bright spots.
- Prograde movement, from the southwest to the east, in line with that of the vast majority of satellites.
- Observation in an optimal time slot for observation of a maximum of satellites, between midnight and 02h, from the end of the astronomical twilight until the moment when the most visible satellites, located in low orbit, enter the shadow of the Earth.
GEIPAN considers that the autokinetic effect influenced the witness’s perception of paths and speeds, making them sometimes seem erratic, rapid and random. This phenomenon is described in detail on this page to understand a phenomenon (click on "movement of a luminous point"). This phenomenon certainly contributes to the witness's perceived strong strangeness.
Flashes of light are also sometimes observed: they are quite usual, which can occur in favourable geometric configurations between the positions of the Sun below the observer’s horizon and that of the satellites. The Sun thus produces surface reflections on antennas or solar panels, in particular.
With many satellites visible, their apparent paths can cross, making 2 or even 3 seem very close or superimposed from the witness’s viewpoint despite differing altitudes.
GEIPAN classifies this observation case as "B": likely observation of reflections on satellites.
