NEUILLY-SUR-MARNE (93), Ile-de-France, France
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On 26 August 2025 from 21:17, witness T1 watched several luminous phenomena eastward from his home in Neuilly-sur-Marne (93) for almost 2 hours. His wife joined him, followed by a neighbor. He first saw 2 halos tracing circles at the cloud base, then a brief, faint blue spherical shape, a briefly illuminated vertical beam shaped like an inverted cone, and finally localized illuminations of the sky, first blue and then red. Everything appeared silent and confined to a small sector. Several videos were recorded, and the police were called.
The case had good, though not maximum, substantiation: a detailed technical questionnaire and usable videos, but only 1 formal account despite 2 additional reported witnesses. GEIPAN defines substantiation as the amount of reliable, objectively established information collected for an account.
T1 found the lights strange because they seemed autonomous, circled on the clouds, had no visible beam connecting them to the ground, were silent, and produced a succession of varied effects. He rejected ordinary searchlights and drones, interpreting the characteristics as unconventional.
The accepted explanation was an indirect view of Disneyland Paris's nighttime “Disney Tales of Magic” show (see investigation report). Strong supporting matches were:
1. The show was being performed at that time.
2. It took place around Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street.
3. It used powerful lighting, projections and lasers, pyrotechnics and, during that period, drones.
4. The investigated viewing sector, 75°–95° centered near 85°, matched the site's direction precisely.
The halos resulted from the show's searchlights scattering on low or middle clouds. Structured effects corresponded to focused lighting sequences, such as beams concentrated on the castle producing the reported cone. Blue and red illuminations were compatible with the final pyrotechnics.
With this explanation, little strangeness remained. The distant view between houses, under heavy cloud, showed only fragments of effects projected onto cloud bases rather than their ground sources. A carefully choreographed show could therefore appear to produce autonomous movement, stationary lights or sudden emergence from clouds, without an unknown aerial phenomenon.
The evidence attributed the observation to Disneyland Paris's show, with atmospheric conditions favoring projection onto clouds. GEIPAN classified the case A: light displays on clouds produced by searchlights, or skytracers.
