On the morning of 6 September 2025, a woman and her partner on the terrace of their home in Saint-François, Guadeloupe, saw a single luminous phenomenon moving in a straight line from left to right above a celestial object. She filmed it with a smartphone for slightly more than 1 minute. The source repeats the motion and filming details.
The original video was sent to GEIPAN. Metadata analysis with its IPACO image-analysis and processing software confirmed a recording time of 09:17 UTC, or 05:17 local time. The video's bright conditions corresponded to the approach of sunrise, with the Sun at azimuth 80° and elevation −9°.
A Stellarium reconstruction identified the celestial object in the footage as Venus, at approximately azimuth 77° and elevation 20°. Jupiter was also in the sky, but at a higher elevation and outside the camera's field of view; see Appendix 1. FlightRadar24 and ADSB Exchange data showed no aircraft passing during the observation.
GEIPAN favored a spaceflight-related explanation and consulted CNES's Space Surveillance Operations Centre. Its reconstruction showed that the International Space Station was visible from the witnesses' location at the time. Its northeast-to-southeast path matched their account. The source gives azimuths of 50–112° and elevations of 10–30° for 09:17 UTC, also supporting the identification; see Appendix 2.
GEIPAN assesses the evidential support as medium: 2 observers but 1 submitted account, a usable video, and limited information about direction and context. It classifies the case A: an ISS passage.
IPACO is GEIPAN's image-analysis and processing software (IPACO.fr). Under GEIPAN's criteria, evidential support means the quantity of information collected for an account that is considered reliable and objectively established.
