The case is catalogued as an observation aboard a flight from Ouraisk–UARR (KZ.09) to Maafaru–VRDA (MV.04) on 26 March 2026. At 21:47 UTC, the pilot of a Gulfstream G650 private jet reported intermittently seeing multiple intense white lights moving in formation above the aircraft's altitude. He described sometimes unpredictable trajectories and extremely abrupt changes in height, which he considered far beyond the capabilities of the best contemporary fighter aircraft.
The observation began near the Afghanistan–Pakistan border and continued intermittently as far as India. Although the pilot estimated the lights to be about 18 km away, the onboard radars detected nothing and no collision-warning system activated.
GEIPAN rates the strangeness as low and the evidential support as good: there were 2 witnesses but only one account, with usable photographs of the UAP. It identifies Starlink® satellite flares as the explanation (see the investigation report). Under GEIPAN's criteria, evidential support is the amount of information considered reliable and objectively established that has been collected for an account.
The source discusses T1's description in terms of a possible military-aircraft interpretation over a region it characterizes as geopolitically tense, citing war in Iran, conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and proximity to Kashmir. The investigation compares that interpretation with the satellite-flare hypothesis.
GEIPAN finds that the supplied photographs match the reported features. The conditions for the lights' appearance and disappearance seem to match those described in its note “STARLINK® SATELLITE FLARES (OR ‘SATELLITE FLARING’)”, supporting that hypothesis and reducing the apparent strangeness of the pilot's experience. GEIPAN classifies the case A: observation of Starlink® satellite flares.
