Case description
At about 10:15 p.m. on July 31, 1967, Sidney Zipkin, a fifty-year-old park guard, was driving through the main parking area of Churchville Park, New York, off North Main Street. He reported stopping his truck approximately one hundred feet from a dark object with green lights beneath it. Its extended sides and swollen central section produced descriptions ranging from a fat cigar to a Saturn-shaped disc.
In the truck’s headlights he reportedly saw two short humanlike figures in shiny black uniforms hurry past the vehicle and board the object. Their faces and anatomical details were not recorded. The craft then rose vertically and disappeared into the night. Later catalogues describe a hissing sound, but the most consistent sequence is the sighting of the dark craft, the figures’ rapid boarding and the upward departure.
The account circulated through local newspapers, APRO and NICAP investigators Jeffrey Gow and James Sipprell. Project Blue Book’s list contains a Churchville entry under August 12 with the evaluation “insufficient information”; that date should not silently replace the repeatedly reported July 31 encounter date. Other aerial sightings in the area were reported around the same period, but do not independently establish the two figures. The plate preserves the limited visual description rather than supplying familiar alien faces.
