Case description
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on August 3, 1967, a married couple identified under the pseudonym de Soto reportedly watched unusual objects outside their suburban Caracas home. They were sleeping in their car because of earthquake concerns. HUMCAT describes a glowing white disc hovering around 100 feet above the ground, near their property. A smaller luminous, bulb-shaped object then descended from it to within roughly 15–25 feet of the witnesses.
A door in this smaller vehicle reportedly slid open. A luminous figure no more than three feet tall, wearing coveralls and a helmet, emerged and examined stones from the gravel path. The figure studied the material briefly, dropped it and returned to the small object. That vehicle rose back toward the larger disc. At least three neighbours reportedly saw the larger object, although the record does not say they all witnessed the small figure.
The expanded account comes from APRO’s September–October 1967 Bulletin and Lorenzen publications, preserved in CUFOS’s HUMCAT entry 1967-68. It distinguishes two vehicles, unlike the compressed NICAP line in which the being appears to emerge directly from the disc. The claimed sampling consisted of handling and dropping gravel; retained specimens or instruments are not established. No face, conversation, physical contact or taking aboard is described, and the neighbour reports do not independently establish every stage.
