San Bernadino entity encounter — August 6, 1967

Around two in the morning in August 1967, a resident of San Bernardino, Caracas, reported awakening to a small being with an unusually large head and a rubber-like suit. The imported NICAP entry gives August 6 and two sleeping witnesses; the fuller CUFOS catalogue gives August 7 and names Pedro Riera as the principal witness. The locality is in Venezuela, not San Bernardino, California. According to the fuller account, Riera awoke when his bed shook, got up and tried to seize the figure. It wriggled free and escaped through a second-floor window. Looking outside, he saw a round object emitting multicolored light so bright that he had to close his eyes. The brief imported version compresses this to a being jumping toward a dazzling object outside. The following morning Riera reportedly found rust-like deposits and small footprints in that material on the pavement below his balcony. Other neighbors were said to have seen the luminous object. The accounts trace to reports in El Universal on August 8 and El Mundo on August 9, with Guillermo José Schael identified as an investigator. The differing August 6/7 dates are retained explicitly; they are not separate episodes. The illustration avoids depicting a dangerous jump or physical struggle.
