Darwin Flt Lt Sanders UFO sighting — 24 October 1965

A RAAF minute paper records a UFO sighting by Flt Lt Sanders on 24 October 1965. Soon after the incident, air-traffic and base-intelligence personnel were advised and the witness was asked for a written report. The control tower reported seeing nothing unusual, there were no known Service or civil aircraft in the area, and the relevant radar was not operating at the time. The source describes Sanders as a reserve officer and ABC manager in Darwin regarded as respectable and sincere, while an official local opinion suggested reflected sunlight on unusual cloud near dusk as a possible explanation. The surviving page does not include the witness’s full visual sequence.
