Millaa Millaa multi-witness sphere report — 1961

A newspaper clipping preserved in the RAAF file reports that about sixty people at Millaa Millaa watched a silver-and-red sphere high in the sky for approximately three and a half hours. Constable Anderson was quoted as seeing it accelerate across the sky and return to its prior position; other local witnesses and schoolchildren reportedly watched through binoculars. RAAF Garbutt sent a Winjeel trainer after reports reached authorities, but the object had gone before the aircraft arrived. The clipping also records a Venus suggestion from an astronomical source. Because this is a secondary-source account, those statements remain attributed and the exact event date is left unresolved.
