Case description

This Minlaton entry concerns sounds rather than a visual encounter. The recovered A703 Part 4 packet contains Vera M. Cook’s March 1964 letter, the March 13 Defence referral and a March 18 Air response. Cook described events approximately a year earlier near her home on Curramulka Road, north of Minlaton, South Australia. Exact incident dates were not supplied. She recalled twice waking around 2:30 a.m. to a very loud, bell-like whining noise that seemed to pass overhead from southwest to northwest. On another occasion, her son and his family heard it; frightened children were reassured that it was a truck, although he reportedly did not know its cause. She also mentioned an occurrence around 6 p.m. Her son lived several hundred yards northwest. The references to him describe another occasion, not necessarily a shared observation beside her. The Department of Air offered no explanation because of the year-long delay, uncertain dates and absence of sightings, and advised immediate reporting if it recurred. Nothing here establishes a craft or beings. The plate depicts Cook listening, with a labelled separate family scene. Rooms, clothing and the represented family composition are illustrative; the sky contains no invented object.
