Clear Lake area / Soda Bay Road, Lake County (exact site unknown), California, United States
Case description
On Saturday, June 24, 1989, a 61-year-old woman in the Clear Lake area of Lake County, California, set out alone at about 4:45 in the morning. In her later recorded hotline account, she described traveling before sunrise when she encountered an object that appeared to be on or immediately above the ground. She characterized it as a disc-shaped craft with a muted or dull red glow rather than a brilliant light. Her size estimates placed it at roughly fifteen to twenty feet across and ten to twelve feet high. Around its middle she recalled a band of oval, porthole-like openings.
Near the object, she reported seeing three or four small humanoid figures. She described them only in broad terms as little people, approximately three to four feet tall, with slight bodies and comparatively large heads. The available call does not establish detailed facial features, clothing, skin color, speech, or a remembered interaction, and those details should remain unknown. She did not explicitly recall entering the craft, being carried away, or undergoing an examination.
Her next clear awareness was of driving on Soda Bay Road. She felt confused and did not know how she had reached that part of the route. Comparing the time before the encounter with the time when she became oriented again left approximately two hours that she could not account for. The report therefore contains a missing-time claim, but the recording does not supply a continuous memory of what happened during that interval.
Afterward, she reported physical discomfort and a mark on her body. Her right arm hurt, her neck was painful, and she described a small puncture-like bruise on her back between two ribs. These were reported effects; the available recording does not provide a medical examination, diagnosis, photograph, or independent causal finding linking them to the encounter.
The woman said that her son worked as an undercover police officer and that he encouraged or directed her to report the experience. The preserved call is the principal source for the sequence. The case is presented as CE3 because reported beings were seen in association with the landed object. The missing time makes a possible CE4 interpretation worth indexing for review, but the account does not contain an explicit remembered abduction and is not classified as CE4 in this package.
