Case description
Ron Hydes, whose surname also appears as Hyde, reported an encounter south of Wodonga while riding from Sydney towards Melbourne on August 24, 1967, around 5 p.m. HUMCAT identifies investigators N.Thornhill and Peter Norris of the Victorian Flying Saucer Research Society and cites Norris’s report, APRO and Flying Saucer Review.
A brilliant light allegedly forced him to stop. About a hundred feet away he described a metallic object resembling two saucers separated by a broad band, with a small dome and an additional low, bell-like feature on top. Two approximately five-foot figures stood nearby in close-fitting silver coveralls covering hands and feet. Their opaque fishbowl-like helmets concealed their faces. One reportedly stepped forward and beckoned.
Hydes said he fled on his motorcycle, after which the object followed with a pink glow before tilting and ascending as its colour changed towards red. The claimed pursuit speed is his estimate, not measured performance. No boarding or abduction was reported. The plate shows the stopped motorcyclist, two covered figures and the craft during the initial phase, leaving the later pursuit in the narrative rather than implying simultaneous events.
