Case description
Two boys reported a close sighting at Newfield, New York, at about 21:30 on 24 October 1967. They said a disc-shaped object approached with its forward edge tilted downward and hovered across the street from the younger boy’s home, between a tavern-restaurant and an adjoining house. Later chronologies identify Donald Chiszar and Pat Crosier, although their recorded ages vary between sources.
As the object tilted upward, the boys claimed to see two occupants through a near-side window, together with instrument panels bearing red and white lights. NICAP’s summary adds a knob and antenna-like projections on top, interference on handheld radios and a departure in which the object tilted back before vanishing rapidly. The boys said three dogs howled during an encounter lasting about two minutes. These were reported observations, not measurements of the object or independently established electronic effects.
The University of Colorado investigators examined the account as part of Condon Report Case 38. Their interviews and an earlier tape differed, and they considered the questioning suggestive. They also noted similarities to a television serial and the boys’ involvement with a local UFO-watching group. Other regional lights were identified as aircraft or stars, but those identifications did not directly reproduce this claimed close scene. The report expressed serious doubts about the boys’ story. The plate therefore labels it disputed and uses indistinct humanlike window figures without supplying unreported alien anatomy.
