Rio de Janeiro entity encounter — November 24, 1967

Radio technician Ugo Battaglia and his fourteen-year-old assistant, Carlos Alberto do Nascimento, were repairing a phonograph in an eighth-floor Rio de Janeiro apartment on November 24,1967. At about 2:30 p.m., a high sound drew them to a window facing the coastal hills. They reported a brilliant metal disc descending across the valley and striking a tree. The object reportedly remained just above the hillside. Red lights were visible underneath, and its rotating upper dome had narrow windowlike openings. Three small figures in white coveralls appeared beneath it, walked together with their arms down, and returned after several minutes. The men resumed work. When they left the building around 2:55 p.m., they could still see the object; by the next street corner it was gone. Neither watched its departure. That distinction is lost in some abbreviated landing summaries. APRO investigator Irene Granchi interviewed the witnesses, and HUMCAT cites the November–December 1967 APRO Bulletin and the Lorenzens' later account. Tree damage and other reported traces form part of that source history, but the available catalogue does not establish an independently tested artifact. The figures' appearance was essentially humanlike and distant; detailed alien faces are not documented.
