Idaho. Falls, Idaho, United States
Case description
At about 7:40 p.m. on 8 December 1967, fifteen-year-old Marilyn Wilding stepped outside her Idaho Falls home while waiting for a friend. She noticed unusual light reflected on the snow and then a bright object partially hidden by a nearby roof. Moving farther into the yard gave her a better view of a round, white-luminous object which she compared in apparent size to a car.
The object tipped, revealing a transparent bubble or dome. Wilding could distinguish two humanlike outlines inside, but not detailed faces or clothing. She felt that the figures were looking toward her and became frightened. The craft began rotating while remaining tilted, producing a wobbling appearance as it moved away. The HUMCAT account adds that its light became orange and that younger siblings saw the object after she called them.
C. Reed Ricks investigated locally, and NICAP published the report in UFOs: A New Look. Michael Schratt later described the archival drawing and report. These sources support two indistinct occupants rather than a detailed alien species. Exact dimensions and distance remain estimates, and the published material does not establish the object's origin. The reconstruction depicts the claimed view and family context, with the occupants deliberately left indistinct.
