Case description
NICAP’s autumn 1968 Point Isabel entry names Abbott but supplies no time or descriptive sequence. A fuller narrative attributed to Leonard Stringfield’s Situation Red identifies fifteen-year-old Larry Abbott, his father and relative Arnold Hubbard. They reportedly went outside after hearing an unusual metallic noise near the farmhouse and saw a large figure rise from weeds about fifty feet away.
Larry described a roughly ten-foot, broad-shouldered, hairy creature with long arms, conspicuous teeth, pointed ears and shining eyes. In the flashlight its covering appeared beige or light brown. He said he could not speak and wondered whether fright explained his reaction. The figure dropped from sight, and later sounds drew the group toward the garage. The subsequent account includes shots fired at the figure, a scream and a white mist that allegedly cleared without leaving a body or other trace.
These are reported events, not an established shooting of an unknown species or demonstrated dematerialisation. Shorter retellings sometimes call the creature white, while a similar catalogue narrative uses a different year and witness name. The atlas retains the 1968 Abbott attribution and makes the descriptive uncertainty explicit. It should also be distinguished from a separate summer 1964 Point Isabel creature report. No craft accompanies the Abbott narrative. The reconstruction shows the initial flashlight observation only, without combining it with the later shooting or adding an unsupported UFO.
