Case description
The McChord story alleges an encounter at a Tactical Air Navigation facility on Army land about eight miles east of McChord Air Force Base, Washington, on October 14, 1972. It names airmen Steven Briggs and Dennis Hillsgeck, who reportedly arrived to check equipment and noticed a high-pitched sound during their work.
According to the later narrative, Briggs saw a saucer hover over the building and land south of the compound. He called Hillsgeck outside, and both allegedly saw two figures approaching the fence. Expanded versions add security personnel, equipment failures, injuries, gunfire and the collection of evidence. These additions remain claims within the same unverified narrative, not independently released operational records.
NICAP reproduced a summary attributed to Bill Hamilton; later reviews trace the longer story to material circulated by Robert Collins decades after the alleged event. No authenticated period AFOSI file is supplied here. The illustration prominently labels it an unauthenticated military claim, showing the initial two airmen, two unresolved figures and craft without portraying a verified investigation or inventing documented occupant anatomy.
