Bt. Bedoga Bay and Woodland, California, United States
Case description
On the evening of November 26, 1972, Judy Kendall and her two younger sisters were returning from their grandmother’s home at Zamora to Bodega Bay, California. The trip normally took about two to three hours. Near the Cache Creek bridge, they became unusually sleepy, failed to reach an expected turnoff, and then had the impression of crossing the same bridge again. They arrived around midnight, several hours later than expected; their concerned parents had contacted the police.
Kendall later said that a scene in the 1975 film Escape to Witch Mountain brought back a memory of their car rising into the air. In 1977, after contacting the Center for UFO Studies, she underwent hypnosis with Dr. W. C. McCall. The more elaborate interior account came from those later sessions, rather than a continuous recollection reported immediately after the drive.
In that account, the car was drawn into an object and she was moved to a large, hexagonal room. She described short figures in close-fitting grey clothing, a human-looking dark-haired woman who reassured her, and a taller, pale figure with unusual eyes. She recalled being restrained on a table and examined with equipment near her head and eyes, while worrying about her sisters.
Kendall said she was carried back to the car, found herself behind its wheel, and then saw her sisters present again. Their next familiar scene was the road and the repeated bridge crossing. Her sisters reportedly avoided discussing the episode; Kendall later spoke publicly about it. The source distinguishes the family’s late arrival and shared drowsiness from the additional sequence she described under hypnosis.
