Anthony Hill entity encounter — October 1973

The Anthony Hill report is usually dated October 1, 1973, although the imported sequential record preserves only the month. Later catalogues place the observation at about 8:15 p.m. in this Tennessee community and describe three teenage witnesses. The episode was said to have occurred during a thunderstorm. The surviving summaries do not identify the teenagers or give a detailed interview history. The witnesses reportedly saw a very large, hairy figure with a round head. Its stiff or mechanical manner of walking led to the description “robot-like,” and its hand or hands were held up. That wording does not establish a metallic robot, a particular species or a detailed face. An egg-shaped object was reportedly seen at the same time. The concise accounts preserve an association between the two observations, but do not establish that the figure was seen entering or leaving the object. Imprints were also said to have been found afterward; some later lists identify them as landing-gear traces. The available accounts do not provide enough measurements, photographs, examination results or a secure chain of investigation to evaluate that interpretation. David Webb’s humanoid catalogue is repeatedly cited as the source behind subsequent summaries. Patrick Gross considered an ordinary animal misidentified in poor conditions one possibility, while emphasizing the lack of information. Neither that suggestion nor an extraterrestrial explanation is demonstrated by the surviving narrative. The illustration retains the unusual reported combination while leaving the figure’s undocumented anatomy and the craft’s relationship to it unresolved.
