The imported locality 'Europa, Mississippi' corresponds to the Eupora Highway 82 account dated 17 October 1973 in Webb's catalogue. Early Patterson described a broad, inverted-cup-like object hovering only a few feet over the road at twilight. His car reportedly lost its lights and engine power at a distance estimated near one hundred yards. Another car stopped behind him, while a second similar object hovered above and illuminated the lower one. A peculiar figure emerged at the top of the lower craft and held a rail. The recorded description compared its gray skin and wide mouth with a catfish, mentioning one glowing eye, flipperlike feet, webbing between its legs and featherlike structures on its back that moved open and shut. These unusual features distinguish the account from a generic small humanoid story. The car was said to operate again after the objects departed. Jack King interviewed Patterson for WROB, and Ted Bloecher preserved a transcript. Later file-based discussion emphasizes incomplete follow-up despite named additional witnesses. A modern chronology conflates this story with John Lane's separately reported Gulfport cab-driver encounter and confession. Lane's admission should not be attributed to Patterson without evidence linking the cases. The interview is evidence of Patterson's claim, not verification of the scene, and the reconstructed plate retains that evidential limit.
