Case description
On October 19, 1973, around 7:45 p.m., David A. Doby and his wife were preparing to leave their mobile home near Copeland, North Carolina, for a football game. They reportedly noticed a large bluish oval object hovering above or close to the home. The fuller account traces to investigator George Fawcett and contemporary local newspaper coverage.
While David watched the object, his wife reportedly saw a small humanoid in the front yard and screamed. Its height was estimated at about three feet, and its garment was metallic gold from head to foot. The family took their young son and drove away. They were reluctant to return that night and stayed with relatives. Their dog was said to have fled and not returned until the following day.
The separate observers' roles matter: the located summary attributes the figure observation to Mrs. Doby and does not establish that both adults saw all details. Nor does it describe the being leaving or entering the oval object. The proximity is part of the claim, not a demonstrated connection. No clear face, unusual eye shape, conversation or verified trace is supplied. The reconstruction shows the family, small gold-clad figure and blue oval together, leaving facial anatomy, exact vehicle structure and witness likenesses approximate.
