Albany unidentified-object report — October 19, 1973

Mary Geddis reportedly experienced two unusual figures and a moving light near her trailer home at Albany, Ohio, during the October 1973 wave. A date conflict remains: the imported NICAP entry says 19 October, whereas INTCAT and George Eberhart’s later chronology place the event on 16 October. Both give about 7:30 p.m. for the opening observation. Returning from an evening class, Geddis first saw a thin, approximately four-foot form floating above the ground at a distance. It resembled a person entirely draped in a close-fitting sheet, without discernible limbs. A bright white object then attracted her attention, jerking about and reportedly approaching within roughly 200 feet before leaving. The fuller account says she remained frightened until her boyfriend, Joe Ben Israel, returned. While supper was being prepared, Joe went outside to speak with neighbours who had also noticed something in the sky. Geddis then saw a small, squarish blue-green form look around the open doorway. It seemed almost translucent, with short arms and spikes around its head and body; no legs were visible. It vanished behind the door. Eberhart’s investigation is cited in Flying Saucer Review 20(5), but the neighbours’ light report does not independently verify either figure.
