Case description
David Simpson of Dobson reportedly experienced a vehicle failure while driving on U.S. 601 toward Mount Airy on the night of October 24, 1973. Around 9 p.m., according to the fuller chronology, an oval object landed near his car. Its dimensions were estimated at approximately twelve feet across and eight feet high.
Simpson said the engine stopped and the headlights went out. A small humanoid then looked through the car window. The distinctive feature recorded in the fuller summaries is a pair of eyes compared with balls of fire. The account offers little dependable information about the rest of the face, skin or clothing, so the catalogue’s general humanoid classification should not become a detailed standard Grey description.
When the being and object had gone, the vehicle’s engine and lights reportedly resumed functioning without Simpson touching the ignition. He continued his journey badly frightened. Some later catalogue wording also mentions fainting; that detail is less clear in the fuller published sequence. David Webb cites George Fawcett’s Skylook report and the Mount Airy News. These are reported vehicle effects, not instrument readings demonstrating a particular electromagnetic cause, and there is no documented taking aboard.
