Case description

An anonymous driver reported an encounter near Warneton on the French-Belgian frontier around 8:40 p.m. on January 7, 1974. Investigators associated with Lumières dans la Nuit recorded the account, later summarised in HUMCAT and Flying Saucer Review. The man said his engine, headlights and radio failed before he noticed a helmet-shaped object on three supports in a field. Two figures allegedly approached while a third remained near the craft. The shorter wore a ringed outfit and round, windowed helmet; the taller had a boxlike helmet, metallic-grey coveralls, belt equipment and a diagonal strap. Both were described with pear-shaped grey heads, round eyes, rudimentary noses and narrow mouths. One held a short, pointed, ruler-like device. Near the car, the witness reported a sensation at the back of his head and a modulated sound. The figures reportedly returned to the object, which changed illumination, withdrew its supports and departed. Another driver was said to confirm a related sighting, but the accessible account does not provide independent equipment records or a mechanical cause for the failures. The plate preserves the different helmets, three figures, stopped car and craft; exact clothing textures and facial proportions remain reconstructed.
