Case description
A worker identified only by the initials J.J. reportedly encountered unusual lights after leaving his job at Springfield, Ohio, around 3:13 a.m. on January 8, 1974. Leonard Stringfield investigated for the Center for UFO Studies, and HUMCAT cites his special report. The witness said his car’s lights and engine failed before multicoloured lights descended nearby.
A brilliant white oval, approximately six feet across, appeared to reveal an interior. Five small occupants were reportedly seated to one side in high-backed chairs. They wore brightly coloured robes and had long brown hair reaching towards the floor. Their facial details could not be recalled. The witness estimated their heights at three to four feet; these are reported impressions rather than biological measurements.
After about five minutes, the interior light allegedly went out and the object departed with flashing lights. A maintenance worker had experienced pager trouble earlier that evening but saw no object then, so this is not direct corroboration of the occupants. The illustration shows J.J. in his car, the luminous aperture and five robed, long-haired seated forms, avoiding generic alien faces or an invented detailed exterior hull.
