Case description
A factory worker travelling by motorcycle toward Hirson in the Aisne region of France reported an encounter at about 5:30 a.m. on February 28, 1974. The fuller account places him near Origny-en-Thiérache, after passing the last houses and a bridge on his usual route. He suddenly found his motorcycle stopped with two figures facing him and could not explain how the halt had occurred.
He described beings about 1.7 metres tall in dark astronaut-like coveralls, square helmets and long gloves extending toward the shoulders. Their faces could not be distinguished in the darkness of the helmet openings. They reportedly held the handlebars. In an adjoining field, about thirty-five metres away, he noticed a dark, circular mass roughly the height of a small car. One figure gestured to the other, which produced a small morsel resembling chocolate and urged him by signs to eat it. He said it tasted of little and was softer than chocolate.
The figures then let him continue, and he rode to work. The published investigation describes reluctance to talk after ridicule. Neighbours reportedly saw compressed grass soon afterward, while investigators visiting two months later found no remaining trace. The account does not securely establish whether the engine had stopped or provide a completed onboard experience. The plate depicts the roadside meeting without showing ingestion.
