Valdehijaderos, Salamanca entity encounter — March 21, 1974

Twenty-one-year-old truck driver Maximiliano Iglesias Sánchez reported two episodes on the road between Horcajo and Lagunilla near Valdehijaderos, Salamanca, in March 1974. NICAP’s later summary places them at about 2:15 a.m. and 11:15 p.m. on 21 March; Skylook’s contemporary newspaper translation labels the nights 20–21 March and gives somewhat different times. In the first episode, an intense light he initially took for an approaching vehicle resolved into a round, double-plate-shaped object obstructing the road, with another hovering nearby. He said his truck would not proceed, saw two tall figures, and watched both objects leave. On his later journey he reportedly encountered three objects and four figures. Frightened when they approached, he ran across country and hid in a muddy ditch. He described them as around two metres tall, with humanlike proportions, but said he could not see their faces. He subsequently returned to the truck, found the door closed although he remembered leaving it open, and watched further activity involving tools and the ground before the objects departed. The early published account says the battery was damaged; later versions differ about exactly when the engine could restart. The newspaper translation reports that the Civil Guard investigated and a hole was found, but the original police report and any extraordinary laboratory findings were not recovered here. Later descriptions add close-fitting metallic outfits and a smooth disc on three short supports. Claims of NASA investigators or extreme temperatures remain unsupported in the recovered primary material. The plate illustrates the first two-object, two-figure phase and does not merge the later pursuit into the same instant.
