Salisbury entity encounter — May 31, 1974

Peter and Frances reported unusual events during their 30–31 May 1974 drive from Salisbury through Rhodesia toward South Africa. Near Umvuma they first saw an apparent policeman in a metallic-looking suit holding a radio. At 2:30 a.m. a bluish, intermittent light began pacing their Peugeot 404. They described fading headlights and intense cold, although the radio, heater and engine initially continued operating. Peter said braking and steering no longer affected the car’s movement. After refuelling at Fort Victoria, two lights accompanied them toward Beit Bridge. The couple remembered empty illuminated buses, unfamiliar wet vegetation and an apparently straightened road. Frances fell asleep; Peter described a later gap in his awareness. At the border, clocks seemed inconsistent, while their trip meter and fuel use appeared far below their expectations for the distance.
